YHOPE · SMART SWITCH PANELS
Panel standard is the selection item that gets decided last and hurts first. A series can be technically perfect for a project and still not fit the wall, because the box in the wall and the plate on the wall belong to different standards. In Europe that means a 55mm module; in the UK and China a 86mm square; in the US and much of Latin America a rectangular 4"×2" box with a wide plate. This page fixes the standard from the market, then maps it to the YHOPE series that fits.
Short answer: ask for the market first. EU uses a 55mm modular system (≈60mm fixing centres); UK/China/Commonwealth uses an 86×86mm square box and plate; US and most of Latin America uses a rectangular 4"×2" box with a wide plate. YHOPE covers all three — the 86mm families (X9 / X20 / X30 AG / X31 AG / X39AG / X18L / D60AG / X3F), the US-standard families (X88 / X8AG / X83 / X8F at 120×74×8.5mm on a US backbox), EU-standard (55mm) support across the range, and the India-standard Y2 family.
| Standard | Wall box | Plate / module | Fixing | Typical markets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EU (55mm modular) | Round Ø60 / 68mm or square 60×60 / 80×80mm | 55mm module; plates typically 80×80 / 86×86mm | Flush mount, ~60mm screw centres | Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland and the wider EU/EEA |
| UK / China 86 (square) | 86×86mm square, depth usually ≥40mm | 86×86mm square plate | Flush mount, ~86mm fixing centres (GB) | UK, China, much of the Commonwealth and South Africa (UK-compatible square) |
| US (rectangular) | 4"×2" (≈100×50mm) rectangular | Wide plate ≈118–120 × 74–77mm | Flush or box-mounted | US, Canada, Australia/NZ (as 澳标/AU), much of Latin America |
The point is not which standard is "better" — it is to fix the market before the panel series is chosen, because the box in the wall is the one item on site that cannot be changed late.
| Standard | YHOPE series | Panel size (L×W×H, mm) | Face / finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| EU 55mm | EU-standard support runs across the range (extended U-series); most 86mm families also list EU backbox support | Per EU variant | PC painted / AG glass / aluminium, depending on series |
| UK / China 86mm | X9, X20, X30 AG, X31 AG, X39AG, X18L, D60AG, X3F | 86×86 (depth 6.9 / 8.9 / 12mm by series) | PC painted, AG skin-feel glass, 2.5D glass, aluminium |
| US / AU rectangular | X88, X8AG, X83, X8F (US backbox) | 120×74×8.5 | PC painted (X88 / X8F); AG glass, key-press or touch (X8AG / X83) |
| India standard | Y2, Y2AG, Y2L | Special L×W × 8.9 | PC painted, AG glass, aluminium |
Latin America is not one standard — and for a smart-switch project the decisive question is the box and plate, not the plug type, which often differs. On current field data, nine markets are high-confidence US-rectangular and can be specified directly from the X88 / X8AG / X83 / X8F family (120×74×8.5mm on a US backbox): Chile, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Chile is worth a note: the local standard box face measures about 118×76mm against our 120×74mm plate — 2mm wider and 2mm shorter — so confirm edge coverage and fixing-hole alignment on a sample.
Two cautions. Argentina uses an IEC modular system (a 10×5cm frame with modular covers), so the standard panel family is not interchangeable — confirm before quoting. In Uruguay, Paraguay and Guatemala no reliable national box-size source was found, so those are confirmed against the customer's own box photo or a first-article sample. Brazil is deferred: NBR 5410, a 4"×2" box and the N-type plug combine into a high certification and localisation barrier.
Which switch standard fits the EU, UK and US?
The EU uses a 55mm modular system (roughly 60mm screw centres); the UK and China use an 86×86mm square box and plate; the US uses a rectangular 4"×2" box with a wide plate of about 118–120×74–77mm. Match the site's wall box to the market before choosing a series.
Can I use one series across a multi-country Latin America roll-out?
For the high-confidence US-rectangular markets — Chile, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic — the US-standard family (X88 / X8AG / X83 / X8F, 120×74×8.5mm) can be specified directly. Argentina uses an IEC modular frame, and Uruguay, Paraguay and Guatemala need box confirmation, so those should be sampled first.
Do you support the European 55mm standard?
Yes. EU-standard support runs across the range via the extended U-series, and most 86mm series also list EU backbox support alongside the UK/China 86mm box. Confirm the EU variant of the specific series at order stage.
What is the panel size of the US-standard series?
The US-standard family — X88, X8AG, X83 and X8F — shares a 120×74×8.5mm plate that fits a US 4"×2" backbox. X88 and X8F are PC painted; X8AG is AG glass with key-press switching and X83 is AG glass with touch switching.
Why does Chile need a sample check?
Chile's standard box face measures about 118×76mm while our US-standard plate is 120×74mm — 2mm wider and 2mm shorter. Whether the plate fully covers the box edge and matches the fixing holes should be confirmed on a first-article sample before a volume order.
Tell us the target market and send a photo or the dimensions of the wall box, and we will match the series and the plate to it.
